The full-length leaves Berlin and Dublin to create an atmosphere of its own, where sounds move around solid beats that, instead of trying to impose themselves, limit their role to solely give cohesion and harmony to the rest of the elements.

Born the son of a record dealer and raised in north-west London where pirate radio ruled the airwaves during the late 90s, it was near-inevitable that a teenage Adam Dyment would eventually find himself in front of a pair of Technics 1210s. This was a time of swapping vinyl and mixtapes - a time bridge, really - before broadband Internet and mass illegal downloads, but during the early stages of computer software becoming an option for beat making. And this was the era of Adam’s grounding in music; DJing was the in-thing, and was simultaneously the genesis for accessible music production software.

Reviews: Agoria - Balance 016

If the first CD ended at ‘The Field’, we would have rated the album much better. Unfortunately, the mess in the second part of CD 1 and the only “good” CD 2 make us believe ‘Balance 016’ is not as brilliant as EQ’s last year’s outings.

News items: Secret Cinema Welcomes To His Club

In December 2009 Jeroen ‘Secret Cinema’ Verheij launched Gem Records, the label which represents the versatile array of sounds that Verheij himself plays in his DJ sets. The first two releases came from Dutch super talents and Secret Cinema protégés Egbert and Peter Horrevorts. Now, ‘Welcome To My Club’ mixed by Secret Cinema explores the realms of Verheij’s club sound and his flavours for the coming season. The mix includes the latest release on Gem ‘Secret Cinema – Glad Chord’ and an exclusive preview of two tracks from the forthcoming EP ‘Haasten’ by Egbert.

Reviews: Seth Troxler - Boogybytes Vol. 5

The move to draft in an outsider to mix the label’s series hasn’t paid off for Ellen Allien in this case, with Troxler seeming too anxious to conform to the established BPC sound than to imprint his own identity on the mix.

Singles: Kaiserdisco - Pez Gordo

It’s time for another wave of latin-infused tech house straight from Germany. The Kaiserdisco duo has yet again showed that they know how to build powerful tracks from tribal elements, vocal stabs and fat basslines. ‘Aguja’ may become the most frequently played tune from this EP but we are more into ‘Bacalao’ which drew our attention with the way it unravels. Great stuff.

Singles: Barem - Heyday EP

The original mix is something for creative DJs who will use it as a tool, because despite a nice turn in the middle of the song, it still is a bit too long and might make people flee the dancefloors. As for the remixes, the best one came from Paul Ritch who managed to put more life into the tune without loosing its deep atmosphere.

The rumors about Burial being the next author of a new ‘DJ-Kicks’ compilation weren’t true. Furthermore, this new offering seems to be completely different from the musical areas being explored by the master of dubstep. The new DJ mix from !K7 will be a classic house music set with Juan MacLean behind the decks.

After three years recording with InFiné and a number of critically acclaimed singles, Austrian electronic music starlet Clara Moto is ready to unleash her debut long player. ‘Polyamour’ is not a yet another minimal house record from Clara; it extends even far beyond the realms of dance music. Clara promises to draw the listener in to a sonic soundscape of ambient auras, deep house grooves and uplifting vocal melodies (courtesy of featured vocalist Mimu).
