Yves Eaux - Biography

  • Last updated: October 14th, 2004

DJ / Producer Yves Eaux, is an “out of the box” thinking creative with over a decade of music industry background. During his studies in 1988 he became infected by the virus of house music and started organising raves and club nights all over The Netherlands using the alias Love Joy. His events with deejays such as Jaydee and DJ Remy became quite popular and got noticed by Bart Thimbles who was a hotshot at Arcade Records in that period of time.

Love Joy and Arcade started working together on the famous “House Party” TV compilation series which resulted in Yves Eaux working for Arcade as RTV Art Director at the age of 21 directing pan European TV-campaigns. Yves Eaux was also reviewer for Dutch DMC magazine Dance Update.

In the mid-nineties he was responsible for all TV advertised dance and pop compilations of EVA Records (a joint venture of EMI/ Virgin/ BMG).Yves Eaux did A&R and directed all TV adds as well. In that period his deejaying really took off. He spun side by side in large venues with the likes of Eddy De Clercq, Michel de Heij, 100% Isis and of course Marcello and DJ Jean with whom he worked on the iT compilation series. He released a number of records produced with DJ Drifter using various aliases. EMI Music even asked them to remix former Motown act Keshaw.

In 1997 Yves Eaux produced the Official Year Mix which was broadcasted on 3FM national radio.

In 1998 Yves Eaux decided to start his own company for producing TV commercials and Vulcanic Music for music projects joined by his friend and producer Pat Reese (who had hits with his poppy house act 4Tune Fairytales). Besides releasing 12 inches he also focused on pop compilations and single artist albums of which many were TV-advertised. One of his albums reached the gold status.

Due to the international success of The Orchid, a downbeat project of LeRon which is released by Yves Eaux’ label Vulcanic Music they’ve decided to share their passion for modern dance music and start producing together. Their production “Nocando – Livin’ In A New World” was signed to SOG Records, the label of Tobi Wirz of Greed. The reactions were overwhelming and resulted in many reviews, charts, airplay (3FM, Proton) and plays by the likes of Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Jimmy van M, Chris Fortier and John “OO” Fleming. The track was also licensed for several mix compilations with DJ Marco V, Oliver Moldan and Pedro Flores amongst others.

Subsequently Yves Eaux was asked by Essential Dance Music, who released records by Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Pako & Frederik and Lucien Foort to do A&R for new imprint Summum Records showcasing peak time dance floor 12 inches and releasing productions from LeRon and Yves Eaux. First release was ¨Hole In One vs. Chestnut – New Pot Of Gold (LeRon & Yves Eaux remixes)¨ followed by “LeRon & Yves Eaux – Echoes”.

Besides producing music and deejaying his career as a TV commercial and music-video director for brands like Twix, Lay’s, Sky Radio and Transavia Airlines is also doing quite well. Many celebs have already featured in his productions like Ronan Keating, Eternal, footballer Edgar Davids, Alessandro Safina and Phil Collins.

Xpander.nl has asked him, besides reviewing records, to write a monthly column.

Yves Eaux is a well respected professional who knows how to communicate through music and reflects his open mind in it, proving that a matter of good taste and dance floor energy go hand in hand.

His DJ-sets represent an international house sound and form a blend of tech house, tribal, progressive and funky house music.
