Everybody who is just a little bit interested in the club music must have heard about the English guy, DJ and producer John Digweed. He was born in Hastings, South England in 1967, almost 900 years after one of the greatest battles of the English history, when Wilhelm the Conqueror conquered England. Young Digweed started his adventure with music in high school when he was spending all his free time on to primitive turntables. Since that time he would do everything for vinyl. He dropped studying, working in the hotel during the day and playing music on the evening events. In 1987 he decided to move to London. During that time he was sending his promo mixes to an every promoter, club owner, to get a chance to spin in an important place. Nobody responded though, so he moved back to his home town, which was the best decision for him at that time, because in a very short time he started organizing his own parties in Hastings club called Crypt. He gave a name to those parties and they were called Bedrock since then. He also started creating music with Nick Muir. Those two great DJs have created their own style which is a combination of house and trance music. His hard work on music was appreciated by Renaissance group. In 1992 John started cooperating with this very famous club and label. He also became a top producer. Everybody was talking about his unique style: “the epic house”. In the Renaissance studio Sasha became one of his best friends to party with, and to make music of course. Working together made them very famous. Digweed and Sasha duo brought out the first club mix ever: “Renaissance, The Mix Collection” (1994). The album has become one of the most wanted albums in the electronic scene. Not far ago Mixmag has chosen this album the best ever published in the club music category. In 1995 Digweed recorded “For What U Dream Of” which was included on the “Trainspotting” soundtrack. In 1996 those two guys traveled around The US to conquer American clubs. Digweed was successful again. He recorded compilations for Global Underground called “Sydney”, “Hong Kong” and “Los Angeles”. His collaboration with GU went great. His biggest commercial success was “Heaven Scent” recorded in 1999. In the same year John took the next logical step in his involvement with the industry by establishing Bedrock Records. On 7th October 2004 in London Club Heaven on the 6th birthday of Bedrock party played Danny Howells, Jonathan Lisle and Digweed of course! His music was appreciated by the British “DJ Magazine” readers. In 2001 he was chosen to be the best DJ around the world. Right now he is still in the “top ten” DJs voted by the readers. His radio shows on Kiss 100 radio became very popular all around England and around the world due to their Internet broadcasts and file sharing systems. DJ Magazine wrote about Digweed: “a Dj, who’s worked tirelessly for over a decade to get great Mouse music out of the people and who knows how to do it in masterful style.” Those words explain everything about Digweed.
