Leon

Piotr Leowski, who better known as Leon on the Polish club scene, is not only well known as a DJ but also a promoter. Along with Angelo Mike, he is responsible for the success of the Sentence Progressive Night parties at Warsaw’s W5 Club. These events were headlined by artists like DJ Kühl, Hypno, Paul Thomas and Dj Surprise and have gone down in history thanks to the efforts put into their preparation, the cutting edge fresh music played at the parties and their warm atmosphere.

When the Decadance agency was formed in early 2002, Leon transferred his organizational skills to Piekarnia's floor. He was responsible for bringing names like Sander Kleinenberg, Staircase, James Holden and Yunus to Poland to play for the very first time. Later, he was asked to co-organize events at the newly opened Klatka Club in Warsaw.

In April 2002, he made his debut behind the decks and since then, he has never stopped surprising people with his unique touch for building unforgettable sets. He plays progressive house, trance and tribal but musical genres are not the most important thing when it comes to describing his performances. What makes his sets so breathtaking is the raw power that hits every single person on the dance floor the minute he steps behind the decks. In a nut shell, the hardest beat in the city. During 2002 and 2003, Leon made regular appearances alongside internationally renowned stars like Anthony Pappa, James Holden, Chris Fortier, Pete Gooding and Timo Mass to list just a few.

He still continued cooperating with the Sentence agency and played many gigs for other promoters. Shortly after his debut, he started traveling around Poland visiting many clubs and showing how talented he is at spinning records. Between 2002 and 2003, many radio stations around the country aired his mixes and in the second half of 2003 he was invited to cooperate with the Sound Revolt website as a Hosted Artist.

2004 turned out to be a very successful year for Leon. It all started off with a New Year’s Eve midnight set at a well remembered event at the famous Palace of Culture and Science, which to this day remains in the memories of Warsaw’s club goers. During 2004, the flood of international stars continued. Thanks to the afore mentioned flood, Leon had the oppurtunity to present his Djing skills alongside Hernan Cattaneo, Sandra Collins, Peace Division, Filterheadz, James Holden, Mara, G. Pal and Subsky. Sound Revolt stated: Leon has become an irreplaceable ingredient of an important progressive party. Greg Benz, during his Polish debut, was so impressed by Leon’s warm-up set that he invited him to record a mix for the Aurium show on Proton Radio right after Leon finished playing.

2004 was also the year Leon got the opportunity to open for John Digweed during the final event of the Nokia Dj Cup, at which he played for over 3,000 clubbers. He was also made a resident of the Klatka Club where his sets have established the venue as a firm favorite clubbing hotspot for international DJs & clubbers alike.

As 2005 begins, Leon continues to travel all over Poland and further establishes himself as Warsaw’s favourite DJ. He played alongside Nick Warren, Luke Fair and Chris Fortier at the end of March. He also played in London at the Audio Deluxe party.
