Charlie Jan - Profile | |||||||||||||||||||||||
In Poland, an inconspicuous, young looking blonde named Janek is, in 9 cases out of 10, a shy and quiet person. However, Charlie Jan and his music are in the 10% that have nothing to do with puerility. Many fans of quality trance and progressive have experienced this but lets start from the very beginning. Jan Koprowski was born in 1979 in Warsaw, and 21 years later he made his debut behind the decks. The beginning of his carrier is connected with the Sentence Progressive Night parties that took place in the no longer existing W5 Club . In October 2001, he recorded a legendary promo mix, which was handed out at the Pink edition of the above mentioned series. For many club goers that CD was the beginning of their love for progressive. At the beginning of 2002, along with Doubledecker and Leon, he set up the Decadance booking agency which was responsible for bringing progressive sounds to another one of the capital’s clubs – Piekarnia. Charlie Jan co-organized Progression Sessions, Sadie Nite Live!, Noc Kupaly and Decadance parties, at which he played with stars like Sander Kleinenberg, Starecase, Yunus and James Holden to name but a few. Recently, he decided to leave the promoting side of things behind him so as to focus on playing and producing. His DJ skills lead him to various places in Poland – from Sopot, through Lód¼, to Wroc³aw. Sandra Collins joined the list of stars and in 2005 Janek went to Pi³a, where he got the chance to play in front of a few thousand people. His popularity reached our Southern neighbours, which effected in bookings in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The media hasn’t stayed indifferent as well – Charlie Jan has been a guest at Radiostacja, The 3rd Program of National Radio, Radio Bis and he performed with Ozgur Can on Club Rotation on Viva TV. This wasn’t his first meeting with the Swedish producer though. They spent some quality time in the studio making a few promising tracks. But the main collaborator is Magnes, known from Tromesa and Bigwigs. Together they form the Hangovered project. This forge of trance runs full time so this story is definitely not finished yet.
