A 25 year-old computer wizard, Chris Salt is no stranger to music. Alongside his piano and violin training, Chris started writing dance tracks on his home computer at the young age of 11 in 1992 at the height of the rave scene, of which he was a big fan. Chris carried on writing Prodigy-style acid-house tracks as a teenager but it was at university that he got into different types of music, ranging from punk and indie to underground dance music. University DJ gigs acted as inspiration for Chris seriously to take up music production, and he began to spend all his spare time writing music. Chris' first single “Dub Sonar” was released on Silver Planet in May 2004 and received support from the likes of Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Nick Warren, Slacker, Jonathan Lisle, Steve Gerrard and many more. His second release “Atmospheric Graffiti” was championed by the likes of Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa and Paul Van Dyk, with the former being so impressed that he named it his tune of 2004. Anthony Pappa licensed “Atmospheric Graffiti” and Chris' tough breaks remix of “Delta Of Venus” to his acclaimed Balance 006 mix compilation, and John Digweed and Steve Smart have given Chris' tracks and remixes high profile airplay on Kiss FM. As well as forging a successful production career, Chris has also gained a solid reputation for his remix work. He has remixed tracks for the likes of EMI, Algorhythm, Silver Planet, Precinct and Release Records. Chris' remix of Flash Brothers “Ways” has been played by Sasha, his remix of Calanit's “Sculptured” has been spun by Way Out West, his remix of Main Element's “Delta Of Venus” has been caned by Anthony Pappa, his remix of Katcha's “Touched By God” has been spun by Kosmas Epsilon, and his remix of Vector 13 has just taken the UK dance music press by storm. Last year Chris mixed the third installment of Silver Planet's compilation series, “Fear 3”, which was critically acclaimed by the dance press as an outstanding achievement and the best in the series. His second mix compilation, “Future House” on Kickin Records, has seen more great reviews, distribution deals with Universal and JVC and an international tour. This goes hand in hand with Chris' professional DJ career, which has seen him spin at world renowned clubs including The Gallery @ Turnmills (London), The Bomb (Nottingham), Park 97 (China) and Faces (Turkey), with headline sets in seven different countries. Chris has played alongside Phil K (Excession), Jody Wisternoff (Way Out West), Lexicon Avenue (Shindig), Steve Gerrard (Bedrock), and has popular residencies on Proton Radio and ETN.FM. Comments[0]
