The musical roots of the "Nutrunner" aka Patrick Kunkel are based in 1997 and connected with the project "b-side" together with his former partner. Intending to avoid any confusion with other bands, the project was renamed to "the nut runners", in Germany a synonym for freaky people working with the machines, also doing an excellent sound design on their tracks. In summer of 2001 both decided to go different ways, so Patrick cut the plural "s" and got "Nutrunner" and one of Frankfurts´ young talents. After a half year break the new "Nutrunner" aka Patrick Kunkel is back on track since winter 2001. He has changed his sound completely, more straight ahead with progressive techno, but also influences from house. The nut runner presents hard banging techno music, partly monotone, but always under the aspect of being groovy. He combines the elements of a lot of different styles in order to show it as a whole. In March 2002 Patrick quit his job at the Global Tunes Music Agency in order to focus more on his own studio projects. Some time later - in the early summer 2002 - he released his first remix on A45 records which was done together with schnick s. from the U60311 for Heatwave´s "Boogie Nights". In the following year Patrick met Harold Todd from the Lenny Kravitz Band and they both set up the project "Sexy Pie". 2004 they released their first single "For You" on Liberté Recordings.
