Nigel Marcussen, originally from New Zealand, took up DJing shortly after moving to London at the start of 2001. His first promotional CD drew a fantastic response which earned him gigs at numerous house parties and a guest slot at Coded – a night at Brighton’s famous Escape Club. Nigel went on to take up a summer residency at Coded and enjoyed guest performances at several of London’s underground house nights, including a 5-hour set at the Junktion Christmas Party and a 3-hour midnight set at an exclusive Soho members club 2002 NYE party. 2003 was a huge year for Nigel. A 6 gig tour of Poland in the summer well-and-truly launched Nigel onto the international scene. Repeat bookings in Poland and new attention from further afield have seen Nigel rock dancefloors across Europe – including Turnmills in London, Kerma in Helsinki, Klatka in Warsaw; Citadella in Budapest; Suffle in Moscow and Aquarius in Novi-Sad (home of the Exit festival). 2003 saw Nigel play alongside the likes of Anthony Pappa, Steve Lawler, Slacker, Rowan Blades, Guy Gerber, Jonathan Ojeda and Luis Paris, as well as many of the UK and Europe’s up and coming stars. 2004 now sees Nigel working with Polish DJ Quantum Mekk as a monthly resident and promoter of TribaliS TotaliS, bringing world class international DJs with him to the budding house scene in Poland. With hugely successful parties already run with Paul Louth, Rowan Blades (Breeder), Jonathan Ojeda (Spundae) and Guy Gerber, Nigel's first international residency and promoting career are both off to a flying start. Describing Nigel’s sound is not easy… striving to stand out from the crowd with less-known tunes armed with an extra edge, the result is a diverse mix incorporating elements of house, tribal, tech and techno… always dirty and always twisted.
