John Askew and Zak Frost have formed a band. It’s called Drum Cult. A decade ago Zak & John were teenagers running huge illegal free parties together in the hills of the English countryside. Since then their musical careers have taken different paths. John has gone on to become a highly respected techno/trance producer and Head of A&R at Discover Records; Zak has been a leading figure in the world of alternative house with his cult London club Nodisko. Both have also rocked dancefloors worldwide with their DJ sets. Having remained close friends throughout they have now found that their musical paths have gone full circle and met in exactly the same place - so the time has come for Drum Cult. Look out for their debut release “Radio” released through Dirt Crew Recordings in October with remixes from 2020 Soundsystem as well as Dirt Crew themselves. As a taster check the huge upcoming Drum Cult remix of the next single from Sasse (aka Freestyle Man), “Up To You”, which will be released in September on Moodmusic. Also doing the rounds on CDR are the Drum Cult remixes of 1gnition's Secret Sunday Lover & Airtight. A bastard fusion of electronic disco, minimal techno, acid and future house, Drum Cult productions are equally at home at a vast techno rave in a Brazilian rainforest as they are in a seedy Berlin basement disco club or a glammed-up Italian beach party. John and Zak have drawn inspiration from their many separate strange and wonderful experiences whilst behind the decks and combined it with their shared love of seriously heavy metal, Labradors and experimentation with mind enhancing drugs.
