King Roc - Profile | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The most frequently asked question has to be, ‘So why the name… King Roc?’ The true answer to this is actually quite simple. The name comes from the fact that when Martin started writing this music he wanted it to represent something bigger than just himself, something more dramatic because this appealed to his imagination. This combined with his early love of his rock music helped cement the idea. It’s been a busy couple of years for Martin Dawson aka King Roc. In the last few months he has been heavily involved with remixes for artists such as Future Sound Of London, Junkie XL and New Order along with DJing all over the world from Asia, Russia, Australia and Europe with forthcoming tours in South America and Canada, spending more time in the studio on original work is the next step forward. Having just released a limited picture disk where Martin wrote all the music and created all the artwork, the whole process was a perfect reminder of why he got so passionate about music when he was very young. That is to be creative and expressive without boundaries. So what comes next… “I am definitely now looking to start work on an artist album. I have been thinking about it for sometime and as much I love writing club tracks it feels like the right time. For me it will be like going back to my roots where the songs you create go into a bigger picture and become part of a whole album experience. It will definitely still sound like King Roc but just not solely focused on the dance for but also sound-scapes for the mind.”
