Aidan Lavelle

Aidan Lavelle is a 27 yr old producer, DJ, programmer, engineer, remixer and A&R manager for his own label Algorhythm.

Aidan first expressed a passion for electronic music at the age of 8. Classically trained, he progressed from playing the piano to experimenting with synthesizers and programming tools. Coupled with that, he also drew inspiration from his elder brother James – infamous for his Mo Wax legacy, who supported Aidan’s decision to develop a career in music.

Aidan went on to study at Leeds College of Music and later Westminster University where he took a degree in commercial music.

After finishing his degree, Aidan was eager to start his musical career. He made his first release on New Religion/Parlophone and quickly established himself as a talented producer when he remixed Gorrilaz “Film Music” on Parlophone. He then released epic tracks such as “Rise” and “Isis” on his label Algorhythm under the pseudonym of Vector 13 and “Eli” on Global Underground. These records hailed mass support and play time from the likes of Sasha, James Zabiela, Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa, Hybrid and Pete Tong and later licensed to Nick Warren’s Global Underground – Reykjavik, James Zabiela’s Sound in Motion and James Holden’s Balance 05.

Aidan has also been working in collaboration with Unkle, engineering and programming various tracks, and remixing Unkle - Eye for an Eye and Unkle feat Ian Brown – Reign. His latest venture with Unkle was remixing Junkie XL’s - Today under the alias Mode Vs Unkle which was nominated as one of the best records of 2005 by Arman Van Buuren along with his remix of Chimera’s In Deep.

His Djing career has given him the opportunity to play in the UK, Greece and Colombia; playing acid, tech house and breaks often incorporating Ablteton lap top sets to diverse and up-for-it crowds.

Owing to his parents and his Granny, Aidan was exposed to a vast wealth of cultural music such as Jazz and Classical throughout his childhood and it wasn’t long before he found his own early electronic influences such as Jean Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk. His appreciation developed into a love for techno siting the early pioneers such as Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins as major influences. His appreciation for techno broadened to include Warp records’ Aphex Twin and Autechre for example, before embracing the wider scope of dance music as a whole in the mid 90’s. Such influences in his work are apparent when considering his fan base stretches the whole spectrum of the dance music scene.

Aidan has a number of forthcoming projects, including producing the music for a BMW documentary and various remixes and engineering/producing projects for established artists and his own material.
