Audioriver Closes Its Foreign Line Up

Poland’s premier electronic music festival has just unveiled the last of the international artists that will be gracing Plock’s picturesque beach this year. The already impressive cast of some of the world’s most influential underground artists will be made all the more impressive with DJ Hell, Zoot Woman, Alix Perez & Commix feat. MC Stamina, Joakim & The Disco, Raz Ohara And The Odd Orchestra, Silent Witness, Shed and Dub FX officially confirmed as part of the line up. Thus, all that is left in the run up to the event is to announce the Polish artists and the official itinerary of the festival cinema and street theaters.

DJ Hell is one of those artists whose bio it would be impossible to summarize in just one paragraph. Therefore, we’ll keep it short and concise by saying that we are very excited to have him on the bill only months after the release of his latest, two disc artist album, ‘Teufelswerk’. It’s hard to imagine a better occasion to see him live, which makes us all the more happy to have him on board for Audioriver 2009. – says Audioriver spokesperson.

Moving on, it pretty much goes without saying that Zoot Women’s performance will be a real treat for fans of synth pop. The Blake brothers, Johnny and Adam, along with Stuart Price are renowned the world over for their highly involving live performances. Later this year, after a six year hiatus, the group will release its third studio album on exactly the same as their set in Plock. We are very proud to have Zoot Women with us on the same day they drop their artist album. ‘We Won’t Break’, the album’s lead single, portends an album of the highest quality, spokesperson adds. And in case some of you may not be aware of Zoot Women’s previous output, we’ll leave off by saying that Stuart Price, aka Jacques Lu Cont aka Les Rhytmes Digitales, was responsible for Madonna’s seminal ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ album.

DJ Hell and Zoot Woman will both perform on the Main Stage on the Friday, while Joakim & The Disco, yet another brilliant artist, will be giving a performance there on the Saturday. The Frenchman is famous for both his solo efforts and for his work behind the scenes producing music for other artists, the best example of which is Poni Hoax’s fantastic album, ‘Images of Sigrid’. Live, Joakim is a one man orchestra, as he sings, gets the best out of his numerous machines and keys, all the while playing the guitar, while being supported by 3 musicians responsible for percussion, guitar and bass guitar.

The Main Stage on Saturday will also be home to a performance from highly valued drum and bass acts in the accompaniment of one of the most respected MCs in the world, Stamina. Alix Perez is one of the hottest newcomers to the scene, and the recent cover story done on him in ATM magazine is hard proof that he is undoubtedly one of the leading figures of nu-school. Commix, a duo which is made up of George Levings and Guy Brewer, will more than likely also rock the beach if their recent, and very stellar, ‘FabricLive 44’ is anything to go by.

The rest of the above mentioned artists will performance at the brand new Hybrid Tent. The story behind the name is quite simple, really. It comes from the tent’s very diverse character. On the first day, it will be home to drum and bass and dubstep, but on the second the less dancey regions of electronica will be king spokesperson says.

Additions to Friday’s line up also include the brilliant drum and bass producer Silent Witness, and the man who has been causing a ruckus in streets all over the globe, namely Dub FX, who makes his music using noting more than his voice and lips, but calling him a beat boxer would be a serious overgeneralization. On the Saturday Ulrich Schnauss will be joined in the Hybrid Tent by two very unique live acts. Raz Ohara and The Odd Orchestra is an extraordinary two man project started by Patrick Rasmussen aka Raz Ohara and Oliver Doerell. The duo, whose album from 2007 is an absolute downtempo and lounge gem, will be taking the stage in Plock in the company of two on-stage musicians. Another artist confirmed to play on Saturday is one of Ostgut Ton’s key players, Shed, who gave the world one of the darkest and deepest techno albums in recent years, ‘Shedding The Past’.
