The French super trio is back with another stellar outing on yet another small imprint. Thus far, every one of their releases has gained a fair share of praise in a wide range of circles, drumming up quite a following for the group in recent months along the way. 'I'm Just A Man' continues this fine tradition by giving us pretty much what we always get from dOP: superb music and diversity - something that seems to be getting harder to find on the vast majority of records nowadays.

The title track is a continuation of what can be heard on 'The Hype' released on Einmaleins some time ago. Anyone who has heard the aforementioned piece of music will know that it has a killer groove all its own and an extremely catchy vocal (it'll have very one singing it after a few listens), and 'Just A Man' is just as good in both respects. However, this time around, it will most likely be the ubersexy groove that'll have you hooked and keep you coming back for more, which, of course, in no ways means that the vocal is in any way lacking in quality and charm.

The instrumental 'Horns n Roses' is an intense and very well arranged journey through the world of brass and piano sounds coupled with a hypnotic, party-oriented beat. The production is a perfect balance between experimentalism and accessibility (something dOP are very good at pulling off) and should work just as well on the floor as it does on headphones at home.

The final track on the EP is 'Like A Motherless Child' with its double vocals. Besides the 'traditional' sung vocal, dOP added a movie trailer speaker-like vocal that, in a way, is very reminiscent of the ones parodied in 'Grindhouse'. The rest of the cut has a very Native American feel to it and in combination with the earlier mentioned, makes for a very American and, in the end, highly original listening experience.

All in all, the record will give you even more reasons to keep your eyes on the up and coming Frenchmen in the future, and it should also serve as good motivation for all those who come across dOP for the first time to getting around to finally doing their homework.
