The thirty fifth instalment of the ‘Fabric‘ mix series was entrusted to the Englishman Ewan Pearson. Although I have never had even the slightest of doubts as to his talent as a producer, his accomplishments as a DJ have always alluded my ears. Which is precisely the reason why I didn’t know what to expect from this record.
There aren’t many CDs that captivate a listener from the very first minutes, but this one is undoubtedly one of them. From beginning to end, ‘Fabric 35‘ is a unique musical journey, the biggest attributes of which are the spot on track selection, and the intuition with which the tracks were mixed. Old or new, with or without vocals, Pearson knows exactly how and when to make the best of each and every one of the 16 very good productions that found there way onto his ‘Fabric‘. Boredom is not an option on this piece of music. Even when one starts to suspect that things may start going downhill, in the end, it turns out that Pearson has an ace up his sleeve, and the mix is even better than it was beforehand. Not bad for someone who claims that DJing is fourth or fifth on his list of professions.
