January 29th will see the release of Sideshow’s self titled album - a collection of new and previously vinyl only tracks complimented by four remixes from some of today’s most engaging producers: Jonson, John Tejada, Lee Jones of My My and Jesse Rose.
Sideshow is the alter ego of Fink - the well-respected producer, musician, remixer and live performer on Ninja Tune. Sideshow’s sound was born of a need to play pure dance music, initially created as the antithesis of the turntablist heavy Ninja culture, but drawing on the experience. It began in 2003 with ‘Sound of Today’ on Simple, embracing a deep broken percussive sound with lashings of melody.
In 2004 ‘The Slide’ followed, with a deliciously twisted slice of deep percussive house and Canadian tech lord Mathew Jonson’s first remix. After Fink produced the Will Saul album for Simple and finished his own vocal dub-blues long-player in 2005, Sideshow re-entered the studio and came back with more genre bending business for his & Saul’s newly created Aus Music imprint in 2006. This is also where the forthcoming album will be released.
‘Sideshow’ will be available as a download release, to be followed
shortly after in a limited run of CDs.
