News added 13th March 2008 Advanced Records celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary with a clever idea for bargain label compilation and looks to the next 10 years. The album is a digital only release and hits the stores on April 14th. When we set up Advanced in 1998 it was because our artists were making forward thinking music which no-one else was prepared to support. Nearly 10 years on this philosophy still remains with us. We always try to release tracks by artists that are trying to break the mould in some way and push forward, or sideways, with creative electronic music. – Paul Smith (Advanced Records) Because of this bold ethos Advanced have generally forged a path under the conventional radar, even though some of their artists have gone on to achieve great things. Ade Fenton is a case in point. He launched the label with Paul in 1998, and has now produced Gary Numan’s best album in 20 years and released his own critically acclaimed artist album in 2007. In the build up to their 10th year anniversary celebrations in 2008, Advanced feel it is right to reach out and spread the word about their music to as many new people as possible who may have missed out so far, and introduce their artists to a new generation. In the next 10 years Advanced Records aim to help artists release albums and develop other special projects which before they have been unable to offer. The future looks bright for this dedicated label at a time when many other are stalling. Their office is overflowing with great ideas, the first being the ‘This Is What We Do‘ compilation. For the 22-track ‘The Past’/’The Future’ compilation we’ve decided to split the album into two distinct 11 track selections that will be compressed into two single zip files and sold as individual tracks on all digital sites where possible. So that means 11 tracks for the price of 1! Or 22 tracks for the price of 2! What a bargain! We may experience technical difficulties with some stores but we hope to be able to overcome them. Anything is possible you’ve just got to work it out. says Paul Smith. ‘This Is What We Do’ is a straight discography of the best tracks from the Advanced catalogue split into ‘The Past’ and ‘The Present’. ‘The Past’ has a selection from 1998 – 2006 featuring some of their original and best loved artists, like Ade Fenton, Tony Thomas, Ignition Technition, Jamie Bissmire, Celtec Twinz and Carl Taylor. ‘The Present’ is a representation of the here and now in 2008 and looking forward, starting with DJ Hal’s fantastic ‘Close My Eyes’ and ending with the ethereal techno of C-System.
