News added 15th April 2008 From the 28th – 30th May 2008 the first ever ‘International Music Summit’ will take place in the home of electronic music…Ibiza. Hailed as the “G8 of Music Conferences” and fronted by Pete Tong, the IMS promises a fresh approach to the industry standard music conference. At this time of momentous change in the music industry, the IMS has been created by leading industry professionals with an emphasis on enlisting fire breathing panels to excite and bring together key opinion formers within our industry. At a time when the music industry is in a state of flux, the International Music Summit is offering 300 music industry professionals a unique opportunity to debate and shape the future of their industry, with unparalleled access to some of the most influential individuals in the business. The IMS provides a platform to address the key challenges electronic music faces, as well as showcasing the very best it has to offer. Over fifty of the leading figures behind the music industry have now been named as panellists, lending heavyweight support to three days of intensively programmed events. Every aspect of the industry is represented including leading labels, agencies, management, festivals, promotions, press, mobile and digital content providers in both the live and electronic music arena thus proving that this IMS really does mean business. Francois Kevorkian (Francois K) is confirmed as a key note speaker for the conference. Francois’ career spans over 30 years, as a pioneering DJ having played at venues such as Studio 54, Paradise Garage & The Loft in America and remixer for the likes of U2 and Diana Ross. His speech: ‘Past, Present, Future’ will reflect his 30 years at the cutting edge and his insights on survival going forward, something he tackles daily with his ever-relevant Wave Music imprint. Tom Middleton will create the IMS anthem in a live 1 hour showcase recording. The following day, the track will be remixed, again live, by remixer of the moment, Radio Slave, before being passed over to the man of the conference, Pete Tong, to be synchronised into visuals from a leading TV show. He will do this with Adam Wolf from Pig Factory in Los Angeles, a leading source of music placement. In a pioneering move, the track will be auctioned off at the end of the conference to labels with all proceeds going to a local Ibiza charity. Keep an eye on the website for further information. For all those interested in building new inroads for business development, the International Music Summit really is the place to be. The panels and talks focus on topics such as the exponential rise of the digital world, the controversial topic of whether the DJ Top 100 is hype or not, or the debate of whether the dance music industry needs a ruling body… please refer below for a full list of seminars & panels.
