Rotterdam 2004, One of Holland’s premier dance labels Essential Dance Music launches new imprint Summum Records. Distributed by Astral Distribution. The first release is a mash up of the two classics Hole In One – Life Is Too Short and Pot Of Gold by Chestnut. Both records did very well all over Europe in the mid-nineties. It will be officially released as
Hole In One vs Chestnut New Pot Of Gold (LeRon & Yves Eaux Remixes).
“Although there is a rather negative climate in the international music industry we think it’s time for a new and fresh imprint with a new sound. Pete Tong already mentioned that there is a new merge bubbling under, it’s a blend of trance, progressive, tribal and techhouse. It’s this new exciting sound we want to put out with LeRon and Yves Eaux as key-players.
We are very glad to have Yves Eaux (who is also known for directing spectacular TV-commercials, and nicknamed by his friends as ‘The Spinning Director’) to do the A&R for the label. These guys are open minded to all kinds of dance music and believe me when I say these guys are going to take the international club by storm.” Says Peter Boertje founder of EDM.
“We want to focus on a peak time party sound, but without getting cheesy. It seems to me that there are too many releases produced which are to purist, it’s crossing genres that makes music exciting and adventurous. We think this is the near future of dance music. Combine the production skills of progressive, the euphoria of trance and the drive of tribal and
techhouse. We’ve been spinning this blend a lot on premiere’s and private party’s and saw a enthusiastic audience. If you want a monotone drive, just take the train…” Yves Eaux explains with a smile.
LeRon & Yves Eaux are supported by the likes of Sasha, Jimmy van M, Sander Kleinenberg, John ‘OO’ Fleming, Oliver Moldan, Steve Gerrard, Greed, Chris Fortier, Andy Jarrod and Marco V.
Essential Dance Music boasts a roster that includes Ferry Corsten, Jaydee, Pako & Frederik, Remy, Tiesto and Lucien Foort amongst others.
