This is the story of a genre, a cultural movement and a club compiled in 26 tracks. Despite the fact whether Peter Hook fakes his DJ sets or not, he’s a man who has lived through this movement, certainly through these songs and here’s the result of more than 20 years in the business.
Acid house became the sound of Haçienda by the end of the 80’s thanks to people like Phuture, Frankie Knuckles or Man Ray, whose some or their most representative tracks in the history of the venue appear in this selection. The mixing emphasizes on the dynamics Haçienda had, the tracks are carefully selected by a criteria of high beats and continuous vocals that remind us what acid house is about. Peter develops the energy of the genre, reaching club-like climaxes (i.e. Haçienda) in this very well structured mix that sometimes seems to flirt with another contemporary emerging genre, drum & bass.
Another aspect which Peter Hook aced on, was the fact that he also selected tracks that express all the textures acid house reaches, from Ralphi Rosario, to New Order these tracks are very accurate description of the genre‘s phenomena.
