Release: Glockenspiel & Bart Cruz - Intersection | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Original Mix is digital download only. By official press release: Having established itself as a hot new label in 2006, Germany’s Global Scum Records kicks into 2007 with it’s third release, following the much praised Subsky “Specdrum EP”, and Stephan Hinz’s “Meet You On The Other Side”. Glockenspiel (aka Moonbeam) have previously recorded am EP for Germany’s uber cool Traum label, and have completed a remix of Minilogue's "Seconds" which is also coming out on Traum. Contractual restrictions have necessitated a name change here, but their distinctive style is unchanged, and “Intersection” will be available in its original mix format as an exclusive digital download. Two brothers, Pavel and Vitaliy, formed Moonbeam in 2003 at Nizhny Novgorod, and began to work with Chris Lunsford (from California) who wrote and performed vocal poetry on a number of tracks, including Moonbeam's debut “Raven Gipsy EP”, released on Portuguese label Feed Me Records in June 2005 to great acclaim. Inspired, the brothers expanded their sound to include more guest vocalists from around the world, including Amigo a.k.a. Mohammed EL-Fatih (Sudan), Nastya Sorokina (Russia), Oxana (Russia), and others. Moonbeam continued their rapid ascent through 2005 - 2006 with signings to Dirty Blue, Distraektions, Traum, Regular, Mashtronic, Ready Mix, and now of course, Global Scum. Pavel and Vitaliy, whether under their Moonbeam or Glockenspiel aliases, always display their distinct crossbred tech-house and minimal techno style. Wunderkind Bart Cruz is considered to be one of the most talented new generation of Portuguese DJs. Together with DJ Diogo, he’s the man behind Feed Me Records, a new progressive/techy/deep house record label, the first of its kind in Portugal, a truly alternative, underground platform for the development of electronic craftsmanship, intended to make a bridge between new talented Portuguese producers and some of the world’s finest producers. Behind the decks Bart pounds deep, solid grooves, from dubby and techy atmospheric house to a more punishing techno or minimal trance. Last year, with John-e, Bart Cruz created the very well received remix of Hernan Cerbello's "Dot Groovy" for Global Scum’s Digital offshoot label, and now he returns with this excellent collaboration with Moonbeam. The 12” vinyl features superb reworkings by two of Germany’s finest talents, Joachim Spieth & Stephan Hinz. Having started his recording career in 1999 at Kompakt, and been supported by the unrivalled best radio presenter ever, the late John Peel on his legendary BBC Radio 1 show, Joachim Spieth has quite a pedigree. His debut LP “Fluchtpunkt” soon followed on the Cologne-Stuttgart label, Onitor. His musical style falls somewhere between the intersection of minimal Technoscapes, grim sounding Techhouse, and playful Ambient, and it is little wonder that in 2003 The Orb-mastermind Dr. Alex Patterson selected Joachim’s “You Don’t Fool Me” for his “Back to Mine” compilation. More recording for Kompakt followed, and many remixes for the likes of Michael Mayer, Reinhard Voigt, Einmusik, Ego Express, Process, Apoll, Bjoern Stoplmann, Pigeon Funk, and Wolfgang Hagedorn, more 12”s and compilation tracks. In the past two or three years Joachim Spieth has also become well know as a DJ in Germany and Europe, where his chosen path between House and minimalistic Techno has proved very popular Stephan Hinz is the brains behind the Global Scum label, and is one of the hardest working men in Germany. Already a most respected DJ/producer/radio presenter, who is garnering much international respect for his two highly influential radio shows, he has now branched out to create the delightfully named label. Stephan has been instrumental in bringing the best international talent and music to German airwaves for some years now. The past year has seen him focused on producing a lot more electronic music and spreading his radio shows round the globe. His remix of “Intersection” is a concoction of ever twisting aural delights. Drawing on Stephan’s broad musical palette of electronic influences it blurs genre boundaries with ease. You can expect to hear much more from Stephan very soon. If you haven’t checked his “Ending Up Flipping Burgers” track on Kling Klong, you really should! This deep tech-house track sizzles with finger-licking goodness, garnished with walking basslines, and skipping hi-hats that'll delight any post-minimal head looking for more exciting action. The first of Stephan’s radio shows is called "DASDING Plattenleger" and is on air every Saturday 10pm-4am on Germany's finest radio SWR DASDING and SR UNSERDING. The second is called "Global Scum Show", which has inspired the record label bearing the same name. The "Global Scum Show" is on air every Thursday (11pm - 2am) and Sunday (3am - 6am) on Turkey's fantastic Dinamo 103.8 FM, and every Wednesday (9pm -12pm) and Sunday (9pm – 12pm) on Greece’s Radio 1 FM. The show is proving so popular, that it will launch in a number of other European countries in 2007, and now has an exclusive internet partnership with Proton Radio. New episodes are now available on demand exclusively every Friday from 12.00 AM EST. When you realise that regular guests on Stephan's radio show include Sander Kleinenberg, Timo Maas, Dave Seaman, Oliver Moldan, Martin Eyerer, James Holden, Carl Cox, Paul van Dyk, M.A.N.D.Y., Adam Freeland, King Unique, Christian Smith, Gabriel & Dresden, Guy Gerber, and many more, it is obvious why Global Scum is a brand to watch out for in 2007.
