Alex Neri is resident DJ at Italy’s world renowned club Tenax, and founder of Tenax Recordings; a vessel to export Italy’s finest to a wider audience, and a good excuse to collaborate with some of the freshest producers around.
On this recording he and new Tenax recruit Luca Bacchetti follow this manifesto to a tee, working with fellow Tenax founder and Planet Funk conspirateur Marco Baroni as well as the irrepresible Jay Haze (TuningSpork, Contexterrior, Fuckpony).
A Side ‘La Fotografia’ is a minimal experiment in progressive rhythm where romantic baroque-esque passages meander in and out of focus, with bass notes circulating to a pulsed beat below the siren like cries of delayed horns and synths.
On the B Side they have provided us with a concise dub edit. Without the precussive elements this edit proves a mesmerising and engaging journey that nods to such avant garde giants as Steve Reich and Phillip Glass.
