 I have no idea how many times I have felt disappointed after listening to remixes from big name producers, but the exact number is definitely too high to keep an exact count. This time around, I came across 3 interpretations of tracks from Stewart Walker’s album ‘Concentricity’ submitted by Jeff Samuel, Touane and Robag Wruhme. In a nutshell, I felt anything but let down. Samuel has yet again earned himself top marks in my book. His masterpiece of a remix can best be described as being perfectly arranged deep, hypnotic and melodic techno of the highest quality, the likes of which doesn’t come out very often. The other two tracks may not be as good as Samuel’s ‘We Welcome Utopia!!!’, but this in no way means that they’re lackluster efforts. Both are very well produced and what’s best about them is the fact that the producers responsible for the remixes managed to come up with 2 very original productions which have a vibe all their own but still sound familiar. Releases like this are worth spending even the last of your money on.
