Kenny Leaven is another big talent to look out for. He´s from Erfurt which is based in east part of Germany. This area is well known through the fame of the Freunde Am Tanzen label that created quite a buzz over the last 2 years. Leaven is a person who coins his own identity with a sound that is most likely to be compared to Dominik Eulbergs. Even though his socialisation is totally different to Eulberg’s. Leaven was raised on a diet of New Wave/ Depeche Mode. His sound is less fractured than most of the sound from Germany, instead it is as fat it can be, still elegant and modern, hypnotic and challenging. Kenny's works at one of the finest studios in Germany The Atomino Studios, where Adamski has his records mixed. This makes his productions enormous. Kenny Leavens debut 12” on Traum is a jewel. His record comprises the a-side: ‘Feeling Spicy’ which is aimed at peak time, being electronic sounding as well as fat in its beats and strong in the overall production. The track has some surprises waiting... it starts with hammering beats und rough sequences, then suddenly breaks down and dives into a sweet melody which somehow makes its way back into the string hypnotic groove. The flipside track ‘Feed me Better’ has more of a DJ tool quality for the later hours of the party being mainly a funky groove with darkish haunted sounds that fly in and out.
