 Official Press Release: To accompany the CD release of ‘Simple Sounds’, Will Saul presents the first of 3exclusive and remix 12”s. Will Saul has gained an admirable reputation over the last few years as not only a show-stealing DJ, but also a talented A&R and producer. His previous albums for the label include
‘Simple One’, the first label compilation that elegantly encapsulated the sound of Simple, and his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Space Between’, a soulful and melodic journey geared towards home listening rather than the dancefloor. He is resident at The End in London and Weekend in Berlin, and most recently has remixed for Freerange, Initial Cuts, Fresh Meat and Phonique’s summer anthem ‘Bang’ on Dessous. Acting as A&R, artist and DJ for the ‘Simple Sounds’ project, his intention is to blur the distinction between the traditional artist LP and DJ mix. On this EP is Will’s exclusive new track ‘3000 AD’ and Wahoo remixes one of Will’s most beautiful tracks from the Simple back catalogue. On 3000AD lush, inviting pads drift around the stereo pallet before clicks and bleeps introduce the undulating rhythm of the track. As the resonance of the bassline is opened out to a pulsating crescendo, the haunting atmospherics build in intensity. Introspective chords chime around the warped robot voices, creating the soulful yet deeply futuristic sound that characterize Will’s
productions. For the Wahoo Remix of ‘Mbira’ who better to choose than the head of Will’s favorite label (Innervisions) for the remix of one of Will’s best known tracks. Dixon keeps the melodies of the original and lends a live and driving percussive feel that his label has become renowned for. His epic arrangement causes maximum dance floor devastation as first strings then stabs are introduced to push the track to its climax. Wahoo is the Berlin based duo of Georg Levin & Dixon. They have just released their album ‘Take It Personal’ on Fine Records. Together they have been busy putting the soul back into house music since their earliest remixes for Jazzanova and break-through hit of 2004‘Make Em Shake It’.
