Lewie Day - Captain Haddock's Phrasebook EP

Official press release:

Australia’s finest label kicks off 2008 with two super hot tracks from Lewie Day. After strong success through 2007 with EP's from Jim Rivers, Sam Ball and Paul Keeley, EQ [Grey] has turned it's focus back onto Australian shores to introduce some fine home-grown talent.

Lewie began playing the piano at the age of four and as a young teen was already a skilled exponent on the guitar, drums and saxophone. This early musical influence gave Lewie an excellent grounding to evolve into the impressive and inspiring young producer and DJ that he is today.

His ability to create music of great quality led to Lewie’s first release being signed to Dave Seaman's Audio Therapy label, with his track 'Striptease' being featured on the Autumn/Winter 2006 Therapy Sessions 3 compilation. With global and domestic DJ support, 'Striptease' hit No.4 on the Beatport progressive chart, and a current release with part-time studio and DJ partner Mic Newman on 8bit is enjoying strong support too.

Captain Haddock’s Phrasebook EP on EQ [Grey] is already a favourite with Hernan Catteneo and Anthony Pappa, and has been heavily featured in charts and radio shows from the two. First up is ‘The Blistering Barnacle’ – an intelligent, melodic groover with a breakdown reminiscent of those Carl Craig style drops that just hurtles the listener back into a straight groove as if it's the only way the record could have ever gone. Pure class! Meanwhile, ‘The Thousandth Typhoon’ crosses over into sparser territory...an 808 groove is peppered with short and sharp bass notes, which hurry the building melodies along as thick pads coax the arrangement into another C2-esque drop.
