Marcello’s second Mule Musiq release is a gem, Italo-disco in it’s truest sense
recorded with a dearth of analog synthesizers in Parma. A pivotal figure in the house/nuDisco scene, Marcello regularly releases on labels like Dirt Crew, Players Paradise and Boogie farm. Aside from the cosmic early 80’s sound, he is fascinated by deep Detroit techno and takes inspiration from the classic club aesthetics of New York’s ‘Paradise Garage’ and Chicago’s ‘Music Box’.

Title track ‘Respect Yourself’ is an archetypal Italo-disco classic, mixing dramatic, reverb drenched keys with a strutted beat and climbing analog synth. Heavily percussive, epic in scale and altogether GLITTERING, this is a masterful lesson in how-to-Italo.

‘Respect Yourself (DJ Naughty Remix)’ is a little more clubby than it’s predecessor, with the Berlin based veteran of countless remixes reinventing the original with modulated synth and percussive tone.
