Official Press Release: Glimpse Recordings clearly have a dedication to quality over quantity. With this, only their seventh release in four years, they flow against the tide of digital detritus and set sail with another selection of beautifully crafted tracks. Previous releases, including the ‘% Black’ records, have seen a Dj fan base growing to include a veritable ‘who’s who’ of dance music. With Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Ritchie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier & Steve Bug among the many that have added Glimpse releases to their sets he has become a mainstay with gods of techno. ‘5 Easy pieces’ is a four track EP. Opening with the warm and stripped ‘Misunderstood’, a collaboration with Matt Tolfrey, the record heads straight into Carl Craig territory, deep, melodic but with a certain edge. Next up is ‘Pushing Claude’ with the divaesque vocals of Patricia Wade set over intense synths and jacking drums, this track retains a real sense of techno soul. Third in the line is ‘100% Shiraz’ remixed by Undo, originally released on Glimpse’s ‘80% black’ single, the remix takes things to a new heights and delivers a glowing piece of electronica. Finally we have ‘In My Soul’, weaving hypnotic vocals and deep chord stabs to give birth to a deep house classic. This is a set of diverse tracks with a strong soulful thread that ties it all together into an outstanding package. Glimpse Recordings releases may be few and far between but they are certainly worth waiting for. ‘5 Easy Pieces’ is released on Glimpse Recordings in April.
