Official press release: We are proud to announce Audision’s Mule debut, which offers a little taste of what is to come with their scheduled album on Mule Electronic later this year. The German duo of Tobias Schmid and Niko Tzoukmanis have been djing and producing tracks for well over a decade, releasing several e.p’s on Playmade and most recently on their own imprint, &nd. Their deep sound structures draw influence from mid eighties acid-house, deep Detroit techno and Basic Channel dub. Mainstays on the Hamburg circuit, Audision have also recently started their own regular club event auto.matic.music as a platform to test and share new productions with friends and fellow musicians. Opener ‘Red Sky’ immerses with a throbbing synth pulse and deep bass plunge. Mantric and atmospheric, the production is thickened by a storm of epic pads and a resonant key melody. Maintaining a steady pace, the infectious rhythm subtly scales to climax. ‘Ice Pick’ attacks with stabbed chords and deep synth pulses. Dark and contemplative, a rapidly approaching panned melody overpowers the mix to climax. On the B Side, Roland Appel’s remix of ‘Red Sky’ is an eccentric affair, with shrill strings generating tension and a mixture of tender and heavily distorted key melodies giving the production a futurist feel.
