We are happy to present Andrea Sartori’s first ever 12” release. Fresh from the successes of his critically acclaimed album ‘Il Tagliacode’, saluted as one of the most original electronica albums of 2007, Andrea brings to Persona one track from that album and two smashing originals.
Though Andrea Sartori is a newcomer to the international scene, he’s been active in his Italian hometown Bologna for years organizing the Homework festival and performing live. Sartori’s original sound is an alchemy of funk, dub, jazz and minimal techno, in his own words “a recreational sound, which reminds one of the frivolity of 70s funk and fusion, the disengagement of video game and cartoon soundtracks and the Italian genre of Musica Leggera (easy listening).
a1- ‘Phonosutura’ is full of nasty sax, pulsing piano, fake strings and tight drums. A dissonant but elegant composition, this electro-disco work sustains a groove that scratches the ears to the point of bleeding.
b1- ‘Horror Vacui’ offers 8 minutes of progression, beginning with acoustic broken beats that work towards a synthetic and dry techno, this track tells of the epic clash between maximal and minimal music, tightly packed with operatic vocals samples, melodic synth passages and discordant electronics.
b2- ‘Pendant’ begins with dripped melodic tones, synth pads and choppy funk guitar. Glorious downtempo decorated with synthetic rythms and analogue melodic lines, it’s deep bass line and squelched harmonics dance to close.
