Official press release:
The King Unique/Junior revival continues on Curfew with one of the biggest tracks of 2001, remixed and refreshed for an ‘08 comeback. Aah yeah…
“Obscene, dirty, filthy, immoral”, a chant that echoed across clubland throughout that year of tribal beats, dark ‘waaaarp’ noises and Danny Tenaglia’s DJ booth torch-antics. But fuck the nostalgia and get these two superb new remixes in your laptop!
Nu-improved-techno Fergie does it again for KU with an up-to-the-minute remix of “Dirty” that is just a pure club crusher. Barking tough techy beats and twisting arpeggiated chords make for a rough-assed combination of heads-down and head-twisting. James Zabiela and Steve Lawler are among the lucky few hammering their early copies already. Paolo Mojo’s mix takes things in an entirely different direction, stripping out everything except an old-school 909 beat and a hypnotic swaying bassline that’ll test the subs in any club. Then it’s just a slow-burning pressure build all the way, in the style that’s rapidly becoming a Mojo trademark.
The re-mastered 2001 Original is made available digitally for the first time, along with Detroit legend Kevin Saunderson’s E-Dancer workout from the original Junior release. A huge record at the time for a DJ Hawtin or Snawtin or something – whatever happened to him?
Enjoy – react – play – thank you.
