‘Safari’ is the first EP taken from Lee Jones’ forthcoming debut album ‘Electronic Frank’ on Aus Music. Essex bred Lee Jones lived in London until 2002, where he was producing and remixing as the downtempo/ nu-jazz artist Hefner. After following his heart to Berlin, he was inspired by the music and clubs to move into a new production style and for the past 3 years he’s been the creative production force behind My My whose debut album ‘Songs For The Gentle’ made waves across the globe. Since 2007 he has released his beautiful solo works on Aus, whilst also collaborating with Berlin local hero Daniel Dreier on releases for Upon You and releasing new My My material on Berlin’s illustrious Ostgut Ton imprint. He’s currently in the US and Japan performing live dates with Nick Höppner as My My but he’s also DJing across Europe regularly and continues to promote the popular monthly clubnight at Watergate ‘My My and friends..’.His debut solo album ‘Electronic Frank’ is released on Aus Music on 29 September.
'Safari’ pours forth the sounds of a seriously twisted jungle from Lee’s laptop for the first EP from his forthcoming album.Elephant trumpets swathed in reverb and de-tuned bird calls combine with squelchy, melodic percussive loops to create something truly fresh but unmistakably Lee Jones.
For the remix, Stimming makes use of Lee's weird and wonderful sounds; tweaking, reemphasizing and twisting the sounds. He increases the swing and bounce of the groove and fattens up the drums to push this firmly onto the peak time dancefloor.
Finally, ‘Roadworks’s jacking, stripped back groove and wildly pitch shifted stab sequence are suddenly softened with a blissful chord sequence that changes the vibe completely - a proper smile inducing, head nodding, spine tingling moment.
