It’s not the first time artists are using samples which sounds like old 8-bits Atari or Commodore computers. I’ll say even more, there’s a trend to use such samples, they have been mostly used as the spice though. Till now.

Rui Da Silva have moved already two steps forward and composed tracks, that sound exactly like a 1987 game soundtrack, with some housey beats added. Even the title strictly relates to the legendary computer screens character, Pac-Man. Quite a brave production as for dance music. The melody, which is working on the percussion background borrowed from the Germans, is rather unpleasant for the contemporary ear.

In “Punks Run Wild” Rui refers to the punk rock era, when using four chords in a song was a blasphemy. According to this rule, Da Silva has based the track only on three. On top of that goes known from the Pac-Man samples, and beneath even harder rhythmics section. The effect? I think the Germans (no hard feelings) will like it.

Rui Da Silva by this release is moving us from the dancefloors to the game saloons of the 80. The whole thing can be taken as a joke, or as a medium quality deutsche elektro item.
