The 10th release is an important moment for every label and a goos occasion to celebrate. The better release, the happier celebration and judging from “Cha Cha”, Jukebox In The Sky is having a killer party.
Steiger is Simon Rogers – one half of Slacker, when it was still a duo. Where did the title of the track come from? One could guess that from a Spanish guitar sample that shows up in few moments or from a bassline played staccato. A wicked bassline sounding like an electronic trombone. Breakdown unveils great, spacey synths and we get a huge tune.
Paolo Mojo’s remix is an energetic tech house, in which the trombone transforms into a sound very similar to the one in Habersham’s “Dryspell”. It’s accompanied with a funky bass and interestingly modulated, seemingly irregular synths.
I intentionally omitted describing percussion in the original, because it’s the element that was mainly changed by Slacker. Steiger’s beat sounds like a novice drummer playing with a metronome, whereas Shem rocked the production to make it a dancefloor shaker and left the greatest things from the musical part. Plus, added some key variations that work perfectly.
That’s about it, when it comes to the vinyl. There’s also another Paolo Mojo’s mix available only as a digital download. A slightly brighter remix but with even more “Dryspell” in it.
A must have.
