The Canadian Minus label has been to minimal music fans what is Bedrock for lovers of progressive. Names like Richie Hawtin, Troy Pierce, or Mathew Jonson splendor to the long list of superb label releases. Magda Hojnacka – a Pole with American passport – despite well-recognized brand on the DJ market, adds herself to the list only now.

“Stop” EP consists of two very good and too average tracks. The tidbits are “48 Crack in your Bass” and “Panna Cotta Eyes”. Both represent new, more acceptable to an average listener warm, soulful minimal. In “Crack”, besides dominating bassline, there’s quite a lot to notice, mostly in the layer of the beats and drums. “Pudding” in this respect does even better. Disturbing key of the piano melody and sounds of jumping fleas add some original charm to this piece.

“Lockjaw” is unfortunately a bit too conventional and too… trivial. And Magda also hasn’t made the most of the great idea for “Oblivicleas”. It’s lacking smoothness and energy.

At least 2 tracks of the EP will manage any dancefloor, as good music will always be praised regardless the genre.
