Silver Planet continues to search for a new sound, having fortunately stopped exploring the deposits of electro house. The label has however turned towards the German scene, which doesn’t necessarily mean that its new single contains the very popular these days minimal house.

Nutrunner (Patrick Kunkel) comes from Frankfurt but concluding from this production, his musical fascinations orbit somewhere around old school trance. The original version of “Open Spaces”, despite the sighing techy percussion, fully reminds me of trance productions from the previous decade, which makes for an interesting combination. I like Oliver Koletzki’s more distinct interpretation, with its psychedelic echoes in the background, even more.

This is definitely not a breakthrough release; I’d even say it’s a bit too conservative. Anyway, I believe Silver Planet’s fans will like it.
