Release: Extrawelt - Schmedding 8000 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Here comes another powerful big production by Extrawelt on Traum. Arne Schaffhausen and Wayan Raabe the men behind Extrawelt have successfully been releasing progressive for many years now as Midimiliz. The Hamburg based duo has created a “parallel world” and a harbour for techno with their pseudonym Extrawelt, starting off with a debut on Border Community in 2005 and their release ‘Last Past’ on Traum in 2006. They compose and produce in a big studio with lots of hardware, with a focus on the production of sound that can be a comforting as well as a driving force Similar to their 12” ‘Last Past’ Extrawelt has combined power with lush melodic moments... the change of tension creating a wormhole... with their new release ‘Schmedding 8000’. Unlike its predecessor this release has less of an electro feel, but is more epic and lingers in the air like perfume. Extrawelt´s dramatic build up is catchy on the one hand and on the other keeps the music slender, minimal, vital and techno. The a-side track ‘Schmedding’ defines itself though it’s baseline and it’s quirky melody, sounding as if midgets were muttering words no one can understand. The flipside track ‘8000’ is more classic in its tension as it slowly steers towards a pool of melodic sequences that are beautiful in colour and shape. Words: official press release.
