Minilogue - Elephant's Parade / Bird

By official press release:

Behind the production of Minilogue are Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson. With different origins they got together in 1996 and are today working full time as animalistic producers in their studio in Sweden. Sebastian has played different instruments since he was a kid and formed a pop band called DIM as a teenager. Marcus never played but listened to electronic music since he can remember; his first techno party in the 90s influenced him to start DJing while at school.

About a year after they meet and became friends; the combination of Sebastian’s musical knowledge and perspective as musician with Marcusī DJ skills and experience from the electronic scene led them into producing. After 10 successful years in the music business Marcus & Sebastian now are Minilogue, a musical and animal concept without the boundaries of genres. In the last year they’ve released on Crosstown Rebels (UK), Traum (DE), W.I.R (DE), Silver Planet (UK), Audiobahn (SWE), Size Doesn’t Matter (DE). The music is playful, ambitious, simple, complex, fun and melancholic and not at least; it is extremely Animalistic. They have an album ‘Animals’ ready to drop in 2007.

Elephant’s Parade was played completely live with drum machines, synths and analogue sequencers. The duo like to record this way (compared to stuck in front of the computer) as they get more free in creating a specific and spontaneous feeling. Here one might imagine a big gang of crazy elephants getting lost on a psychedelic parade. In the middle of the track things are getting a bit weird, perhaps too much amarulla fruit, which gives the second part its childish and naïve playfulness. On the flipside Bird Song has a dirty, noisy, trippy vibe with a little touch of basic channel sound. Shake a tail feather!
