Vector 13 - G.H.L.I.S

Lavelle (Aidan) doesn't know a state of rest, rocketing the scene with new musical outputs on every possible occasion. Merely two weeks ago I was challenged by the remix of “Atmospheric Graffiti” and now my labor-troubled hands receive another piece of him - Vector 13 – "G.H.L.I.S" released on his own Algorhythm Records.

Discussed acronym is a track from within the “vocally flavoured” pile. Just as it was in case of “Rise” the voice belongs to Early Year's Alan Thompson. And altough I'm not the kind of a person who takes the negation of male vocals in progressive tracks as a rule, this time I have to admit that our baritone draws a blank. Interesting and attention-consuming beginning of the A-side shouts the heavens for some solid build up, but all we get is an ordinary patent of pumping distorted lyrics into a mic. Add computer-generated syllables a’la Stephen Hawking and you end up with a perfect “Golden Raspberry” pretender. Only a pretender though, cause the track has something on its defence – solid beginning and an original drum arrangement, stripped of punk-rock hi hat overuse and rumble – just to name a few.

Anyone who hustles with such commercial stunners as Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You" has to be highly self-confident. Leama & Moor are most certainly in that bevy. They immodestly torture and modify the vocal layer in every possible mode, additionaly implementing a new conceptual core - based on solid, lively bass line. Rummy, yet somehow familiar idea.

Perhaps I'm suffering from a chronic lack of sunshine, but with all due respect Mr. Aidan – experiment some more in the future. It would be a pity if Algorhythm Records shared the fate of Enron on the music marketplace.
