Grammar is the system of rules in terms of which a person's mastery of his native language can be explained. Probably that was the idea the two Americans: Camp & Leutwyler and their Canadian fellow, Micah Lukasewich were guided by while working on “The Grammar Lesson”. Well, let’s see what we can learn from that. This time – B side first. Micah Mix seems to be very delicate, toned down and mild. Based on a trancing (but not galloping) beat shot through with somewhat monumental melodies. A breakdown part as if taken from a movie theme. We can feel the subtlety of the track through those barely audible break parts fighting their way through the music wall. It really makes the composition nice. But… If that’s what we call a course book then, in order to learn “grammar”, we gonna need an additional private teacher. Fortunately, we have two of them. They are Mat Leutwyler and Ben Camp. Their own vision of the “grammar course” makes the whole EP work really great. In relation to Micah’s work, Ben and Mat Mix is much slower. Highlighted broken beat and the most characteristic clear and incredibly piercing bass sound is what this piece of music is made of. This is what makes this track a good “grammar tutorial”. And without prejudice to Micah Mix – I’m not surprised why it’s on the B side. Comments[0]
