- Deeper Depths

Subsequent Sound Revolt homage to Segment Records was unquestionable. Matt Black’s label is in the spotlight again thanks to a talented lad – Eelke Kleijn. His „4,5 Billion Years” was the first imprint of the brand new label. Over a year has past now since that time – and dancefloors worldwide receive an extra shipment of fresh, Dutch goodies. However the A-side refers to the old candies as it’s a remake of “Knowledge Base” (known from the mentionded 12-inch). Solid, progressive foundations proved to be just the right blend for making a top notch breakbeat tune. It can be that I’m addicted to flaccid, fat and low-sounding tones supported by firm and heavy rhythm section, but man! – even though it’s basically an old tune with additional cuts and clicks – I’m totally into it. “Deeper Depths” is an extension of elaborated standards. The core based on rhythm section, with bass as main driving power is enriched by keybords, synths, breakdowns and sudden changes of mood – a turbulent fusion. Eelke and Segment have good prospects of joining the scene premiership. They have entered a clear-cut trajectory. Comments[1]
