The name Narcotic Thrust always makes me think of a smash hit. “Safe From Harm”, “I Like It” and now “When The Dawn Breaks” are straightforward songs set to reach the highest places on various charts. I’m against trash but there are times when the animal inside me awakens and makes me love very easygoing music. The time is now... The “Original Mix” by Stuart Crichton and Andy Morris is an Ibizan laser house ready to be one of the anthems of 2005. The vocal is a pure cheese with a pinch of Sting and Bob Marley but you don’t want to focus on the lyrics to much. This double vinyl pack also includes a remix by Behrouz who gave the whole his unique deep and warm feel. Similarities to the original end with the vocal, which was chopped up and rearranged by Nazari. Lasers were replaced with subtle synths and a piano forming a perfect tune for a smooth mating dance in the dark. The flips of the aforementioned vinyls are filled with two interpretations by recent top house jocks from the UK – Mark Knight and Martijn Ten Velden. Their remixes represent a melodic, vivid and – what’s most important – very good acid. That gives us 3 ambitious versions of not a very ambitious original. While listening to “When The Dawn Breaks” I can feel the same instincts that used to drag me to a dancefloor during the “Safe From Harm” era two years ago. Who knows – maybe I’m programmed to like Narcotic Thrust’s odd releases? I’ll let know when the fourth arrives. Comments[0]
