If we just finished watching a movie for the first time, can we judge whether it’s good or not? Does the same apply to music? Are we able to review an album after 2 or 3 listenings? Most of them we possible could, but this time we deal with an exceptional piece, which offers its full taste to a listener only after several times.

Jonathan Lisle is far from being a novice. His promo mixes like “Loose Cannon” or “Argentina” have gathered positive feedback from many electronic music lovers around the world. Lisle has gained recognition due to original repertoire and clever mixing from 3 decks, which finally put his name among infamous DJ Mag 100 in 2003.

The first part of the album is slow, dark and decadent. Like praise of evil, mean deeds and even death. Cosmic sounds, galloping syncopations, Depech Mode lyrics and almost pop-like vocal – one plaiting into the other, pervading without even one single grate. How did he manage to make so many different tracks work good together? Unbelievable.

As of track number 8, the mood of the compilation is about to change gradually. The melodies are easier to absorb, the beat, even the breaks, is becoming more regular, and the breakdowns are more atmospheric. Let’s put it this way, the record is becoming to be more dancey! Or even more catchy, mainly due to amazing remix of “Surrender”, almost trancey production from Dekay and Proluctors and the final track called “Invincible”.

I remember Jon from his visits to Bydgoszcz and Warsaw, where we spent some time together. He was obsessive looking after his CD case, not leaving it unattended even for a second. That’s how I remembered him till now. Since few days his name will also make me think of this magnificent album.
