MoshicDaSilva is an alias taken by producers’ duo – Moshic Shlomi from Israel and Rui Da Silva from Portugal. The first one mainly records under pseudonyms of Mo Shic and Argonout. He represents quite heavy and dark but also incredibly moody type of progressive. The second one, well know worldwide dance music giant, fascinated with sound in every electronic complexion. Both of them have produced a few dozen of tracks so far. What’s the common denominator between two of them? Undoubtedly the Middle East, which is for Rui a cradle of western civilization, but also superior producing skills. Let’s see what the cooperation brings.
“Gibberish (London Mix)” is a first production of MoshicDaSilva duo, released under Kismet Records label, owned by Da Silva. By the title artists expressed an esoteric meaning of the word. And the piece is very dark and mysterious indeed. Rhythmic section brings out so much Mo Shic styled muffled drums, being scattered over all the bar notes. On its foreground, beautiful and melodic bass line enriched by a whole range of different flavors attacking one by one the listener’s ear, and leading his mind into esoteric states. Undoubtedly, one of the leading roles in building the track mood process plays a chant, almost taken from Indian rituals. I have reservations about the vocal motif in the track’s breakdown, though, which doesn’t fit perfectly its mood. I think the piece would be even more coherent without it.
Summing up, after “Gibberish”, I’m fully convinced that the idea to make the duo was a bull’s-eye hit, and I’m waiting impatiently for incoming fruits of this collaboration.
The piece can be bought for merely 90p at Kismet.
