 The dance music world evolves in various directions. One of the strongest are the electro wave and the German alike experimental madness. You can hear those inspirations in the release by Ben Camp and Mat Leutwyler who decided to cut their names to initials and initiate the BCML project. Their first track – as the name and the lyrics assure – was made for fun. However, except for the nice electro-retro melodies that can’t be 100% serious I don’t see in this production the most important thing in fun – the dance element. Plus – everything sounds to sweet. The self-remix that’s also on side A is something like a tribute to James Holden and Mad Professor – nothing more than a 4 minute gapfiller. Undoubtedly the best of the pack is the last “Ladysparkes” - co-written with Paul Sparks. Madly looped synths and overwhelming melodies in a broken breakdown together with a techy beat form a wicked and tangled whole. Nevertheless, the latest Secret Planet is just a nice fold-up of today’s leading ideas in music.  Comments[0]
