I have to admit that a news about Danny Howells preparing the 27th Global Underground album rose my blood pressure a bit as I’m a big fan of his previous compilation. “24-7” was also inspired by Miami so my expectations were very high. But it ended with a dilemma – which release is better?! On “Miami” there is no place for rest like we had on the “day” part of “24-7”. This time both CDs are decisive invitations to dance. The first one is filled with music Danny would play on the Terrace around eight o’clock and it’s hard not to notice that this guy is a true dreamer. Once more he puts a beautiful hymn to the sun – “Light Shine” – and keeps this warm, deep and sexy mood right to the end. It’s exceptional how Danny managed to make great tunes sound even greater! CD 2 reflects the sound of an early morning so it’s darker, more hypnotic, less songlike. The first three tracks take us from the CD 1 right into the hands of an amazing and sick “Cosmic Soundwich”. From now on, there’s no turning back from the best house in various kinds. It gets very dancefloor friendly due to excellent "Stalkers Groove”, "Freeload (Free Love)” or "Keep It Down” that together with great works by Tiga and Tiefschwarz form a huge amount of excellent music. In our summary of 2004 we complained about GU not doing to well on the compilation market. Well, “Afterhours 2” and Danny Howells’ artistry completely change the picture. Comments[2]
