Ever since tech house became an important thing in my life, Steve Bug and Pokerflat has always been somewhere around but only now I decided to check the label’s albums. During more than 5 years of activity they’ve managed to release a few and after hearing the “Volume 4” I instantly started to check the previous ones. But let’s focus on the present. The fourth episode is a collection of known singles and 8 exclusive tracks on two CDs with one of them being a bonus mixed by Jeff Samuel who visited the 1955 club some time ago. I really regret I couldn’t come to that party as Jeff’s skills changed my perspective and I think the CD should be named as bonus. Samuel’s mix is a sophisticated journey through tech, acid and minimal house with few tracks worth the highest praise. And I’m thinking here mainly of “Just For A Little Peek”, “Altered Rock” and “Glurf”. The unmixed CD1 is not that good in the terms of fluency what shouldn’t surprise anyone. This part is great for DJs, label fans and those, who love to butcher their favourite tracks over and over again. My precious ones are “Peng”, “Can You Compute?” and quite recently released „FM Safari” but the whole CD is full of quality sounds. For fans and newbies. Comments[0]
