Only a week after finishing the review of “Fabriclive 21” I laid my hands on Crystal Method’s (Ken Jordan & Scott Kirkland) “Community Sevice II”. After releasing “The Legion Of Boom” – nominated for Grammy’s Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2004 the duo decided to once again present the newest and best releases leading the field on the breaks scene. The tracklist itself makes quite an impression. Remixes of The Doors’ and New Order’s classics, older Crystal Method’s productions remixed by top producers, previously unpublished numbers of Hyper and PMT and finally acknowledged pieces by Dylan Rhymes and Unkle put the compilation on the top shelf. But the selection of material is not the only merit of the record. The tempo of the mix is awesome and energy level sky high. Just as the original productions of the duo it’s full of dirty, sick, acid sounds, hypnotic vocals, rocking guitar riffs and progressives spaces. Special credit must go to “Keep the Hope Alive” reworked by JDS and the remix of The Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues”. Definitely recommended to all Crystal Method’s fans and anyone genuinely interested in nuskool breaks. Comments[0]
