And again Matt Black and Co. on my desktop. This time I take pleasure in reviewing the 7th release “brought on” by Segment Records. It is just a formality to remind you about previous critically acclaimed Matt Black’s label releases such as those committed by ZGR or Eelke Kleijn. As I proclaim myself a homegrown high cuisine talent, I’m going to give you the long and short of it: the construction scheme of both “Melancholy rage” remixes look suspiciously like cookbook recipes. And don’t forget we got two cooks here. Eelke Kleijn is the first one to serve us something to eat. As we talk about good food, this proposition would rather be a one-course meal. Quite monotonous and uniform but still danceable rhythm, “whispering” breakdown and lively beat on the way out. Almost 10 minutes of rocking waves. Simple but still nutritious. Nick Hook on the other hand proves himself to be a chef here. He is the one that managed to cook the delicacy using variety of ingredients mixed together inside the music cauldron. Ravishing tribal sounds, damn nice atmospherical breakdown (that just reminds me of an old track: “10@Ze” by Moshic and Zidan) and ethnically flavored neo-trance thud complementing the whole. A fest for traditionalists as well as for those who would rather prefer some more of the experimental cuisine. Nonetheless, quite delicious. Despite all that tidbits of the Segment’s stock I am still a bit hungry and would be happy to consume some more for dessert. There was no sweet this time, but accordingly to dieticians that want could be quite a benefit. Well, they might be right… Comments[0]
