One of our favourite musical places – South America – this time on Yoshitoshi. The Uruguayan, Carlos Regueira (aka Southdrummers & JZK) and two Argentineans, Adrian la Civita and Sergio Sauchelli (London 909) brought us a dose of tribal so let’s see what they’ve got.
The first sounds are not too promising – neither creative nor rousing. The acoustic guitar and a spoken vocal are like a copy of Sultan’s work and I think that Sultan copying himself is definitely enough.
The Argentinean duo is the biggest force of this single. Massive drums with expressive synths and bells make it a pure dancefloor shaker. Too bad London 909 decided to use the original vocal.
Last but not least is the “Deep South” remix. Driving bongos go really well with low and extensive layer of synths and the vocal doesn’t hurt.
Right – the vocals. I don’t want to offend anyone but lyrics like “I come from the south, from the deepest. I’ll guide you to the places where you want to go. Do you want me? You turn me on...” say much about its creators. More ambitions please, ‘cause otherwise dance music will be seen as a prelude for sex oriented retards.
