„Original Series” in edition number 3 is presented by Canadian DJ and producer Luke Fair. Luke and Desyn Masiello, who started the series, have been chasing each other for quite a time. Together they recorded their first compilation for Yoshitoshi, they also played in the same clubs for a few months, to finally get a contract for the same title for Bedrock. Coincidence?

No. Luke and Desyn, are now the most promoted DJs by John Digweed, the label owner. Both young, energetic, with a fresh and original approach to selecting the music. And also to the mixing, but this part will come later in this text.

Meeting Fair’s compilation is like entering the club during prime time. No chance for a smooth introduction, there’s “Mooguno” instead – the trick which perfectly renders Canadian’s musical taste. And further, from track to track follow house throwers one by one. Dance music monsters, able to knock down every single club in the world, give a little breath only at “When In Rome” by Skylark. From this moment the album slightly changes the course to become musically more sophisticated. And you listen to it with growing interest, at least for a dozen or so minutes.

How about beauties? For me the best piece here is ATFC remix of Overstreet’s “Loose Yourself”, but both Leger’s tracks, together with post Vivaldi “La Serenissima” and “Xristopan” in Fair and Masiello interpretation are also worth a 29th listening.

Is this mean that the album is perfect? Unfortunately not. I have the feeling that Luke insisted on those particular songs, and in effect there’s a lack of proper mixing. Mostly due to different keys of the following tracks. It’s not a kind of compilation where all the pieces form a coherent shape. To say even more, I sometimes checked whether my CD plays those songs in the proper order!

Nevertheless, this is a rather good compilation, especially in compare to the lousy weather we have in Europe. But after Luke’s official promo CD’s “Spring” and “Fall” I expected a bombarding here. And I was just slightly nudged.
